ENTERING INTO MOTHERHOOD - HOW I FEEL ABOUT IT
Being a mother is one of the most rewarding and challenging roles in life.
I can't quite believe that I am entering into it! Wow. Motherhood was something that I always saw others experience, but to be here now myself is truly humbling and exciting.
So how do I feel?
Well, to be honest, I am a mixed bag of emotions and thoughts at the moment and it's quite difficult to put it into words.
I will never forget the moment I found out I was pregnant.
Positive.
I stood in front of the bathroom mirror and burst into nervous laughter! Then I ran into our bedroom to get another test - just to be sure. My heart jumped when I saw another positive. WOW! At the sound of my laughter, Stan ran into the bathroom, saw all that was going on and just froze and asked me if I was sure. It was hilarious. Not quite how I had planned on announcing to him, but a beautiful authentic moment nonetheless.
On the 16th December 2017, we realised that our lives were to forever change.
We had discussed having children and committed it to the Lord and His perfect timing, we just couldn't quite believe that it was so soon after our prayer.
Growing up I had always been interested to know what it felt like to be a mother and to care so deeply about a life that came out of you.
It has been beautiful to see how both Stan and I have grown. At one of the most stressful, emotional, overwhelming and life-changing times of our lives, God has drawn us closer to Himself as we have spent time praying, preparing, discussing and reflecting on baby Awuku and our future as parents.
All those years of wondering were now upon me.
I am to become a mother.
Oh, for more grace to steward this life as God would desire me to.
If you’re pregnant, as your baby belly is growing every day, how are you growing daily in your spiritual walk?
What are you praying for your baby?
What are some of your tips to truly love this challenging but beautiful time of pregnancy?
